Down four players to injury (two of them starters), UNCG scrapped and clawed their way into this game multiple times. But eventually, after losing two more starters to fouling out, we just couldn’t close the game out in Spartanburg.

Isaiah Miller

Zay exerted his will more than once this game, contributing 28 points on 9-23 shooting (2-9 3PT). He went 8-9 from the FT line with 5 rebounds, 9 assists, 2 steals, and 3 turnovers.

Malik Massey

One of two Spartans to foul out, Malik was a big part of why we even made it to overtime. 5-10 FG (2-4 3PT), 1-2 FT, 5 rebounds, 4 steals, 1 assist, 1 turnover.

Keyshaun Langley

Key was huge in this game, going 4-8 from the field (3-7 3PT), 3-3 FT, with 4 rebounds, 2 assists, 3 steals, & 1 turnover.

Angelo Allegri

Probably Gelo’s best game yet as he continues to step up. 6-15 FG (4-13 3PT), 3-4 FT, 2 rebounds, 1 steal, 1 turnover.

Big Mo

Mo only went 1-6 from the field, but he pulled down a team-high 10 rebounds. 2-5 FT, 1 steal, 2 turnovers.

James Dickey

JD was plagued with foul trouble early and was only to put in 25 minutes before he became the second Spartan to foul out. 1-2 FG, 7 rebounds, 2 assists, 1 steal, 1 block.

Michael Hueitt Jr

Hueitt is still not playing to his potential. 2-8 3PT, 1-1 FT, 2 rebounds, 1 assist, 1 turnover.

Bas Leyte

In 21 minutes, went 2-6 FG (1-4 3PT) with 2 rebounds.

Kyrin Galloway – Did not play (injured).

Kobe Langley – Did not play (injured).

Khyre Thompson – Did not play (injured).

Kaleb Hunter – Did not play (injured).

Ryan Tankelewicz – Did not play.

Game Summary

Down 13 with 3:48 to go, UNCG showed the most heart in a game I’ve seen all season as they went on a 12-0 run that led them to eventually tie the game. Unable to close it out, they tied it again in overtime with an Isaiah Miller THREE to push the game to a second overtime.

But the war of attrition was won by Wofford, who also had two players fouled out like UNCG. It was a tough game to lose, but honestly, being down so many players due to injury, this was a great game that showed a glimmer of what this team is capable of.

Hosting ETSU at home Wednesday will be G’s biggest test of the season.
